On the third day of July, 1971, Jim Morrison was found dead in a bathtub in Paris. He was 27 years old. The cause of death was never officially confirmed. There was no autopsy. He was buried four days later at Père Lachaise — quietly, with only a few people present — in the same cemetery where Chopin, Proust, and Oscar Wilde rest.

The moment a man dies and a myth is born is rarely visible in real time. With Morrison it was different — the transformation was almost immediate. The Lizard King, the poet, the voice of a generation that had already begun to fracture. His grave at Père Lachaise became one of the most visited in the world. People still leave notes, flowers, and words there — as if the conversation never ended.

The myth has been running ever since.
