Tokyo Station, March 30, 2018. Thousands of people moving in every direction — and us, still. We shook hands the way people do when they mean something more than a handshake. It was not a goodbye. It was a beginning with a fixed point.

We made a promise. Not in writing, not in front of anyone. Just the two of us, under the station clock, in the middle of all that movement. The kind of promise that doesn’t need witnesses because it lives in the people who made it.

We registered this moment so it would always exist — in coordinates, in a date, in a number that belongs only to us. Whatever comes next, this is where it started.
